Two days of piling in July
Updated: 7 July 2020
On Wednesday 8th and Thursday 9th July, we will be carrying out two further days of piling. Although the installation of these piles should be less noisy than the precast piling which took place in June, there may still be some disturbance to the local community during the day.
As before, piling will only ever take place during our agreed working hours of 8am to 7pm, Monday to Friday and 8am to 1pm on Saturdays.
Piling on the project is now over 80 per cent complete. We are very grateful to the local community, which has been so understanding in recent weeks about this crucial part of the construction process. We will provide further updates on this page and ask you to please contact us if you have any concerns.
Piling Update: Summer 2020
Updated: 26 June 2020
Over the next few weeks, we will be laying deep foundations (pile foundations) in the ground. Unfortunately, this will sometimes be quite loud and people living nearby will be able to hear it during the day.
Some piling took place in early June and a small number of pile tests will take place at the beginning of July for just a few days. In August, a longer session of piling is scheduled and there is likely to be noise from the site during the day for around three weeks.
As with previous piling sessions, piling will take place only during our approved working hours (8am to 7pm).
This work is a necessary and unavoidable stage of the construction process and we hope you will bear with us.
If you need to contact us at any time, please email firstname.lastname@example.org and we will do what we can to minimise disturbance.
Renewed call for Local Liaison Committee members
Updated: 25 February 2020
The Earl Gate Local Liaison Committee was set up last year to gather feedback from local residents and provide information to the community during construction, through commissioning and into the facility’s operational phase.
The two meetings held so far have been well attended by representatives from community organisations but we are looking for more local residents to join us.
The committee meets around once a quarter although there may be occasional extra meetings when the need arises. Those interested in joining are asked to contact us to request an application form.
The next meeting will be held in April.
Latest News on Piling Work
Updated: 14 February 2020
Piling work, which is needed to lay deep foundations for the new facility, restarted on Monday 10th February and will continue for about a fortnight.
Over three-quarters of the piles have been installed with around 1000 of the total 1300 already completed. Levels of noise will be similar to earlier phases of piling, however this time, only around five piles per day will be installed rather than the previous 15 to 20.
We will do our best to minimise disturbance at all times but we ask the local community to bear with us throughout this important stage of the construction process and contact us if they have any problems.
Local Liaison Committee launched
Updated: 11 July 2019
We are seeking community representatives to join a liaison committee for local people.
The committee will gather feedback and opinions from local residents and provide information to the community during construction, through commissioning and into the facility’s operational phase, with the aim of ensuring the project proceeds with minimal impact and disruption to the local community.
The committee will meet around once a quarter although there may be occasional extra meetings when the need arises. Places are limited so those interested in joining are asked to email email@example.com to request an application form.
The deadline for responses is Monday 12th August and the first meeting will take place shortly afterwards.
More information is available on the Local Liaison Committee page.
Updated: 11 June 2019
We recently started piling work to lay deep foundations. In order to complete this work as quickly as possible and to comply with our planning conditions, piling will run daily from Monday to Saturdays until mid-November this year. We are doing everything we can to shorten this timescale and finish earlier.
This work is a necessary and unavoidable stage of the construction process and we hope you will bear with us. If you need to contact us at any time, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or phone 0131 618 8878 and we will do what we can to minimise disturbance.

In May 2019, we held a jobs fair for people to find out about construction-related jobs opportunities and longer term employment prospects at the facility.
If you were unable to attend the event, but are still interested in a role during the construction phase, please visit our contact page where you will find further details on how to submit your CV.
Meet the Buyer
Updated: 22 March 2019
In March 2019, we held a ‘Meet the Buyer’ event for local suppliers to meet our procurement teams and explore opportunities to bid for the contracts that will be offered over the course of the project.
A wide range of goods and services will be needed including catering services, office supplies, cleaning and accommodation, as well as engineering and construction.
If you missed the event but are interested in registering as a potential supplier, you can still send us your company details.
